AI video generation is advancing at an astonishing pace. Coca-Cola's recent AI-powered Christmas ad is a prime example of this technology's potential. While the current output may still have some quirks, it's indisputable that this technology is rapidly evolving. Imagine creating near-Hollywood-quality videos with just a simple text prompt! It's a truly mind-blowing development.
Just like people who complain about modern air travel, those who dismiss AI's potential overlook our incredible progress. A century ago, flying through the sky at 300 miles an hour in a chair was unimaginable. Similarly, AI is reshaping our world in ways we're only beginning to understand.
Amazon's Increased Investment in Anthropic
Amazon has invested an additional $4 billion in AI startup Anthropic, bringing its total investment to $8 billion. This move aims to strengthen Amazon's position in the competitive AI landscape against rivals like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI. Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI employees, focuses on AI safety and research, claiming its technology to be safer and more reliable. JPMorgan Chase & Co. has introduced a generative AI assistant, the LLM Suite, to 200,000 employees. Executives, including CEO Jamie Dimon, are actively using these tools to streamline tasks, such as making presentations more concise and managing everyday activities. The firm plans to embed these AI tools deeper into workflows to enhance productivity while ensuring human oversight remains crucial in the highly regulated financial sector.
AI's Impact on Hollywood Scripts
Investigations reveal that companies like Apple, Anthropic, Meta, and Nvidia have been using dialogue from TV shows and movies to train large language models (LLMs). This data, derived from subtitle files, helps AI imitate spoken conversation styles beyond academic texts and journalism. Dialogue from over 53,000 movies and 85,000 TV episodes, including popular series like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad, is being used for AI training. The secretive nature of these tech companies makes it difficult to determine the full extent of data usage and its implications for creative human work.
